This website

ByteMaple (“we”, “us”) runs bytemaple.com. You can browse this website without giving us any personal information.

  • Server logs: like every website, our hosting provider records technical data such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested. These logs are used only for security and to keep the site running, and are deleted on a rolling basis.
  • Cookies: the public site uses only a session cookie and a security (CSRF) cookie that are needed for forms to work. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies on this website.
  • Contact form: when you send us a message we receive your name, email address and message. We use them only to reply to you and keep them for up to 24 months, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.

Our games and apps

Our apps never require an account to use them — progress and settings are stored on your device, and an account is only ever an optional extra: if you buy an ad-free package (below) you can add a license key in supported apps to switch ads off. Some apps are supported by ads from Google AdMob, which may collect device identifiers and usage data to show and measure ads. Apps with Wi-Fi multiplayer exchange game data only with devices on your local network. The policy for each app, linked above, gives the full details.

User accounts

You can optionally create an account on this website by signing in with Google. When you do, Google sends us your name, email address and profile picture, plus a Google account identifier. We use them only to run your account — to show your licenses and purchases, and to let you sign back in. We never receive or store your Google password. You can browse the site and use every app without an account.

Purchases and licenses

Ad-free packages are sold through PayPal, which processes your payment under its own privacy policy. We never see or store your card or bank details. We keep a purchase record — the package bought, amount, currency, status and the country PayPal reports for the payer — together with the license key we issue, its coverage, start and expiry dates, and the devices it has been activated on (a device identifier your app generates, the app and the platform — never a hardware serial number). When an app checks a license, it sends the key, that device identifier and the app's identifier to this website; we store the check time so we can enforce device limits and detect key sharing.

Push notifications

Apps that support notifications register an installation identifier — and on Android a Firebase Cloud Messaging token — with this website so we can send announcements (for example, a new game or an update). Registrations may include the app, platform and country. No notification contains advertising from third parties. You can stop notifications at any time in your device settings, or by uninstalling the app, which removes the registration from rotation; contact us if you would like the record deleted.

Retention and deletion

Account, purchase and license records are kept while your account or license is active, and for as long as tax and accounting law requires us to keep purchase records. You can ask us to delete your account and the personal data attached to it at any time by emailing hello@bytemaple.com — licenses tied to a deleted account stop working, and we complete deletions within 30 days.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU/UK or state laws in the US), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict its use. We do not sell personal information. To make a request, email hello@bytemaple.com. We reply within 30 days.

Children

Our website and apps are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update this page and the date above.
